EID Concepts: Who needs a UT EID, and why?

The UT EID is an electronic identifier – your “user name” with The University of Texas at Austin. If you are associated with the university or if you need to complete online transactions with the university, you need a UT EID. A UT EID is not necessary to access public information online, such as the library catalog.
