These instructions are for configuring the iPhone and iPad for the Office 365 using an ActiveSync connection. This will allow you to access your Office 365 email, as well as synchronize your iOS contacts and calendar with your Office 365 contacts and calendar.

Apple mobile devices running iOS older than iOS 11 are not supported.

Removing Your Old Exchange Account

  1. Open the Setting app, then tap Passwords & Accounts.

  2. Find your Exchange account, tap on its name, then tap Delete Account.

  3. Tap Delete Account again in the pop-up.

If the above instructions fail please try:

  1. In the Setting app, tap General.

  2. Go to Profiles & Device Management. This item will only be present if you have a profile installed.

  3. Tap on the Exchange profile and select Remove.

Adding a Mail Account

  1. Open the Settings app, then tap Passwords & Accounts, then Add Account.

  2. Select Exchange from the list of account types.

  3. Configure your Exchange account in the provided fields:

Email: Your email address (e.g., "joe.user@austin.utexas.edu")

Description: Enter a descriptive name for your account (e.g., "UT Austin")

  4. Tap Next

  5. Your iPhone or iPad will display a dialog asking if you want to sign in to your Exchange account using Microsoft. Tap Sign In.

  6. You will be taken to the UT Austin Office 365 sign-in page. Sign in as you normally do when accessing Office 365.
  7. Choose which items you would like to synchronize (MailContactsCalendarsReminders, and/or Notes), then tap Save.

  8. Restart the device. This step is not always necessary, but can help with syncing.

Once your iPhone or iPad has synchronized with your Office 365 account, you can configure additional options in the account settings (Settings app > Passwords & Accounts > your newly created Exchange account).
