Purchasing Apps and Obtaining VPP Store Credit

The easiest method of purchasing apps through ASM is entering Pro-Card information on your account. Login to ASM and choose Settings>Apps and Books>My billing information. Accounts with an IT function in your ASM location can enter payment information and purchase apps on behalf of your organization.

A second method of purchasing apps in ASM is through store credit.  To obtain store credit, please request a quote from the campus Apple team and include the following information:

  • Dollar amount of the credit
  • The name of the Apple ID/email address of the person who is enrolled in ASM that will be redeeming the credit
  • Your quote will be generated and then a PO may be submitted to institutionorders@apple.com by you or your purchasing agent
  • A store credit/ PO number will be issued and can be entered under your account in ASM (Settings>Apps and Books>Store Credit)

Migrating legacy VPP accounts to ASM

The process relies on ITS to create the import structure, extend the "invitation" and help with license transfer (if needed). Internal process listed below.

ASM Admin must create custom location named for imported legacy VPP account (name by person)

  1. Admin to create VPP invitations (sends email link for importation of legacy VPP account)
  2. Have end user accept invitation and select custom location for VPP account

    1. All existing legacy VPP App licenses (distributed or not) move to the ASM custom location
    2. Legacy VPP may transfer licenses from custom to new location (must select each app and transfer per App)
  3. Custom location can be deleted after transfers are complete
