UT-VMG Web User Interface

  • Allows you to view all VMs that you have support-user privileges to administer/monitor (whether your login created them or not).   Self-Service -> Support Group lists all VMs in all the Groups you're a member of.
  • When doing tasks, you need to refresh the browser manually, it does not auto-refresh periodically.
  • There is no "logout" button/link - see below

Credentials

All users to the UT-VMG service are based on AUSTIN Active Directory logins.

Those logins are associated with AD security groups which associate people with Provisioning Groups in the product.  A user may be associated with multiple provisioning groups, e.g. a department may have multiple provisioning groups for administration, research, etc... and users in those groups would be allowed to manage VMs in all the groups they belong to.

Logging out

If you are going to be using the service from a "shared" or "public" web browser, either:

  • Use the "Logout" link at the top right of the page, and quit the web browser when you are done, or
  • Before logging in choose a New Private Window (Firefox), New Incognito Window (Chrome), enable Private Browsing (Safari) before logging in to the UT-VMG service.  Then when you're done, close that window.

vSphere Web Clients

  • Allow you to view all VMs that you have support-user privileges to administer/monitor (whether your login created them or not).

Logging out

In the upper right-hand corner, click your credential being displayed. From the dropdown menu, click Logout.

Mounting an ISO

  • You must use the Virtual Machine Remote Console (VMRC) program in order to mount a local ISO to your VMs.
  • You must launch the VMRC from the HTML5 Web Client
  • For more information see KB0015894 (requires log in)
