UT-VMG Web User Interface

  • Allows you to view all VMs that you have support-user privileges to administer/monitor (whether your login created them or not).   Items -> "Owned by" lists all VMs in all the Groups you're a member of.
  • ITS Systems > UT-VMG 2.0 - Logging in > image2016-8-16 11:17:51.png
  • When doing tasks, you need to refresh the browser manually using the refresh button at the bottom of the page, it does not auto-refresh periodically.
  • You may log out using the link at the top right of the page.

Credentials

All users to the UT-VMG service are based on AUSTIN Active Directory logins.

Those logins are associated with AD security groups which associate people with Business Groups in the product.  A user may be associated with multiple business groups, e.g. a department may have multiple business groups for administration, research, etc... and users in those groups would be allowed to manage VMs in all the groups they belong to.

UT-VMG Self-Service Portal Login Example

Logging out

If you are going to be using the service from a "shared" or "public" web browser, either:

  • Use the "Logout" link at the top right of the page, and quit the web browser when you are done, or
  • Before logging in choose a New Private Window (Firefox), New Incognito Window (Chrome), enable Private Browsing (Safari) before logging in to the UT-VMG service.  Then when you're done, close that window.

vSphere Web Client

  • Allows you to view all VMs that you have support-user privileges to administer/monitor (whether your login created them or not).

Mounting an ISO

  • You must use the Virtual Machine Remote Console (VMRC) program in order to mount a local ISO to your VMs.
  • You must launch the VMRC from the HTML5 Web Client
