  1. Select the Start menu, then right-click Computer (Windows Vista/Windows 7) or My Computer (Windows XP) and select Map Network Drive. If you do not have these icons in your Start menu, right-click on the Computer or My Computer icon on your desktop and select Map Network Drive.

  2. From the Drive option, select an unused drive letter.

  3. In the Folder field, enter "\\\disk\sharename". Replace sharename with your UT EID if you are connecting to your personal directory, or replace sharename with your shared drive if you are connecting to your departmental directory.

  4. If you are logged in to the Austin Active Directory with your EID credentials, skip to step 5. Otherwise, uncheck Reconnect at logon.

  5. Click the different user name link (Windows XP/Windows Vista) or check Connect using different credentials (Windows 7). Enter "austin\eid" in the User name field (replacing eidwith your UT EID) and your UT EID password in the Password field. If you would like your computer to save your credentials, check Remember my credentials and press OK.

  6. Select Finish. The share that has just been mapped will appear in the My Computer folder as a local drive with the drive letter that you specified.
