OU Administrators should perform this step from the computer they use to manage the domain, not on the computer to be joined.
- Windows Server must have the AD DS and AD LDS Tools feature installed
- Windows desktop OSes must have the Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT) installed with the AD DS and AD LDS Tools enabled.
-
Click the Start button
-
Search for and open Active Directory Users and Computers.
-
In the left pane, select the organizational unit (OU) where the computer account will be created.
-
Right-click the right pane and select New, and then select Computer.
-
Enter the name of the machine to be added in the Computer Name field.
-
Click Change.
-
Enter the name of the group or user that will join the machine to the domain in the Enter the object name to select field.
-
Click Check Names to verify that the name has been entered correctly and click OK.
-
Click Next twice and then click Finish.
